Transcreation

On this page we explain what we mean by transcreation and give you 5 steps to transcreating your marketing message.

What is Transcreation?

Transcreation is a combination of the words ‘translation’ and ‘creation’. It’s the process of adapting an ad or a piece of marketing copy to make it work in another language.

The Macmillan Dictionary defines transcreation as:

a distinct translation process that is mainly used to describe the adaptation of advertising and marketing copy”.

Some marketing materials such as advertisements are so country-specific that they simply wouldn’t work if you translated them into English. So we translate and adapt them using a process called transcreation.

Transcreation goes much further than translation. It ensures that your core message is retained but it adapts the advert to meet the needs of the target country.

5 steps to transcreating your marketing text

#1 – The brief. Give us the kind of brief you give your advertising people. The more information you can give us, the better.

#2 – We review your ad or marketing copy and identify which areas need adapting.

#3 – We send you some suggestions based on what we know will work in English.

#4 – We liaise with you to decide which one best meets your needs.

#5 – We produce transcreated copy that chimes with your English-speaking audience.

Let us help you expand into English speaking markets by translating your marketing materials into language your potential customers will understand.
